This data protection directive explains what data is processed by the University of Koblenz-Landau when using its range of Internet services www.uni-koblenz-landau.de and what data, where necessary, is collected from users, and how this data is subsequently protected.

Data protection

1. Privacy policy

The protection of personal data is a key issue for the Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate. The design of our online services is in accordance with the regulations of the German Telemedia Act (TMG), as well as with federal and state data protection legislation (BDSG/LDSG).

2. Personal data

Whenever you visit our website, our web servers temporarily save every access in a log file. The data listed below is recorded and saved until it is automatically deleted after a period of six months:

  • IP-address of the computer placing the request
  • date and time of access
  • name and URL of the requested file
  • volume of transmitted data
  • report whether the request was successful
  • identification of the browser and operating system used
  • website the access originated from
  • name of your Internet service provider

The purpose of processing this data is to enable users to access the project website, to secure online systems, to allow the technical administration of the network infrastructure as well as to optimise Internet services. An IP address is only analysed in the event of attacks on the network infrastructure of the University of Koblenz-Landau.

No data relating to user profiles is compiled.

In addition, we use personal data exclusively with your permission in order to deal with your enquiries, to process the booking events, or to send you information by e-mail.

You may withdraw your permission for us to store your personal data at any time.

3. Transfer of data to third parties

Your personal data will only be used within the project parties. No personal data will be passed on to third parties. An exception to this rule is the case that we are required by authorised public institutions and law enforcement agencies to disclose data in the event of any misuse of our services, and in particular a deliberate attack on our system.

4. Technology and privacy policy

Your data is saved on specially protected servers in Germany. Only specially authorised members of staff, who are bound by law to maintain confidentiality, have access to your data.

5. The use of cookies

When you access our website, we use cookies to archive data on your computer.

If you do not permit the use of cookies, we request that you modify the relevant settings on your browser. You can always decline to use cookies or not to permit the saving of cookies until you have given your permission. If you decline to use cookies, your use of our website will not be restricted. Further information on this is available from the user manual of your browser manufacturer.

6. Google Analytics

In order to analyse access to our website we use Google Analytics, which is a service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google Analytics analyses the cookie stored on your computer during your visit to our website. The data generated on the use of our website by the cookie is, as a rule, transmitted to the server operated by Google Inc. and subsequently stored there.

Your IP address will be shortened, i.e. anonymised before it is transmitted to the server operated by Google Inc. if you access our website from a member state of the European Union or EEA.

You may decline the use of cookies as described above.

7. Links to other providers

Our websites may contain links to other providers as well as to our social media services. We assume no responsibility in the event that providers or operators of social media platforms fail to adhere to any data protection regulations currently in force.

In the event that your personal data is stored by us, we undertake to disclose the details of such stored data if you so wish.

9. Currentness of our privacy policy

This privacy policy is from 05 September 2018. The further development of our website or the implementation of new technology may make an amendment of this privacy policy necessary in the future. The Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate reserves the right to amend this privacy policy at any time. We therefore recommend that users read our privacy policy from time to time in order to remain abreast with any changes.
