About Us
StArfrica – Startup Germany-Africa, established in 2020 is a project under ZIFET of the University of Koblenz. The project aims to make Germany more attractive as a location for African founding teams and start-ups from the scientific community while facilitating the market entry of German founding teams and start-ups in Africa. This promotes economic exchange between the two continents; new jobs are created in Germany and also in Africa; markets are opened up mutually and allow innovative developments; and networks are further expanded and used.
Mission and Objectives
Promoting Research-Driven Startups in Germany: Encourage, advise, and support innovative, research-backed business start-ups in Germany, including assistance with applications for the EXIST Business Start-up Grant.
Facilitating Market Entry for Scientific Startups: Sensitize scientific start-ups in Germany about potential market opportunities in Africa while providing relevant information and key contacts.
Connecting Germany and Africa’s Startup Ecosystem: Foster cross-regional collaboration and business interactions between start-up teams and ecosystems in Germany and Africa.
StArfrica Incubator Program
The StArfrica incubator program, in partnership with several key stakeholders aims to support students and researchers at African universities in converting science-based start-up ideas into applications for EXIST Business Start-up Grant.
10 Faces Changing Africa
Our focus on female entrepreneurship under this program highlights the extraordinary careers of ten groundbreaking African female founders. The first edition focused on ten innovative female entrepreneurs in Ghana.
EXIST Business Startup Grant
Through tailored consultations, we provide innovative and research-backed entrepreneurial ideas and startups in Africa with complete guidance in securing early-phase funding to bring their bold ideas to life in Germany.
