Tanzania has a growing economy and emerging startup ecosystem making it an attractive destination for entrepreneurs and startups. The country’s location is also strategic enough as running a business in Tanzania means having access to more than 200 million people, including neighborhood countries like Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. Lastly, Tanzania has a young tech-savvy population with a high rate of mobile phone and internet penetration, and a relatively low cost of living compared to other African countries. The project partner for StArfrica in Tanzania is the Mathematics Department of the University of Dar es Salaam. The University has a strong reputation for academic excellence and research, with several of its faculties and departments among the top in East Africa. They are also a member of several international organizations such as the Association of African Universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and the Inter-University Council for East Africa.
