The mission of StArfrica – Startup Germany-Africa – is to increase the attractiveness of Germany for African start-ups as well as to sensitize and facilitate the market entry of German start-ups and companies in Africa. 

Our project is currently implemented on a pilot basis in Rwanda and in cooperation with the University of Rwanda (UR) in Kigali. Our team is based at the Institute for Scientific Entrepreneurship at the University of Koblenz as well as on-site at the UR in Kigali. 

In addition, we are also running an incubator on the ground in Kigali that will support and push business ideas by young Rwandans in the field of science

The objective of the project bridgehead in Rwanda is therefore to promote business start-ups from the field of science together with the University of Rwanda and especially to sensitize, motivate, advise and support for the possibility of founding a business in Germany – if necessary we can also help with an application for the EXIST-founders-scholarship. 

The objective of the bridgehead in Germany is to sensitize scientific start-ups in Germany for the potential market entry in Africa and to provide relevant information and contacts. 

The objective of the bridge between Germany and Rwanda is to contribute to a foundation-related business interaction of start-up teams between both countries with their respective start-up ecosystems.
