Ghana has become an attractive destination for startups emerging out of science and technology, because of its stable political environment with a democratic system that supports entrepreneurship and foreign investment. The country has also been experiencing strong economic growth in recent years driven by a growing middle class and an expanding market for goods and services. Other factors like a growing skilled working force, supportive government policies, and a growing technology ecosystem have made Ghana an attractive place for foreign investors as well as its local entrepreneurs. The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) which is the main partner for StArfrica expansion to Ghana is a pan-African network of Centers of Excellence for post-graduate training in mathematical sciences, research and public engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The Institute’s commitment to raising innovative entrepreneurs is evident through its entrepreneurship programs and incubators which are run in partnership with other universities and local and international organizations. This makes them a suitable partner for the expansion of the StArfrica project to Ghana.
